The Hruska Wedding made the Post!

October 10, 2011

My artwork for Mike & Marcia Hruska’s wedding went viral on a popular wedding blog called “Style Me Pretty New York” on September 26th. 2011!

The general décor was to be simple as we are as a couple. The details seemed to fall together….To spruce up the table settings, our dear friend and artist, Emily Nagle, created custom images of places Mike and I had been to in our relationship and planned to go to on our honeymoon. She designed our save-the-date, so we wanted to tie the feel of her artwork into the day itself. – Utterly priceless. Make the day what you want by surrounding yourself with good people. That’s my wedding motto!”

Hruska Wedding!

August 18, 2011

To begin this post I would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Hruska who were married on July 23rd!!  I had the pleasure of not only illustrating their Save the Date but also the Table Arrangements for the reception. The 16 destination-themed illustrations were big hits and were arranged in standing frames with a table number on the back. The illustrations that were not swiped by mischievous family members and friends are now permanent pieces of art for the bride and groom to enjoy in their Brooklyn home. I am very proud to have been apart of their special day.

Here is an updated link on my site with images of the original artworks and photos from the wedding.

“Inspired Art” Sale!

May 15, 2011

A few weeks ago one of my pieces was exhibited at the Inspired Art exhibition held by the non-profit organization America Scores NY. The silent auction winner for my piece was actually by two great friends of mine! Bellow is a picture of Marcia receiving the framed work at her New York office. I couldn’t have chosen two greater people to house my work.

Check out my new iPhone case I designed on Zazzle.com!

It was inspired by NYC and I couldn’t help but have the sneakers sport some NY Knick’s colors as well.

Enjoy!

Children’s Apparel & Textile Design

May 4, 2011

Being inspired by some beautiful stationary and textile artists, I created some repeat patterns and T-shirt  designs. Bellow is my favorite pattern, Summer Time, incorporating both illustration and a screen-print feel to the print. I really enjoyed it and plan on creating more!

Happy Easter!

April 25, 2011

Happy Belated Easter! I hope everyone had a great Easter. I was unable to visit family but I did treat my self to some delicious take-out and enjoyed some Netflicks.

Above is an image that was featured in my 2011 desk calendar. However, the calendar was created digitally and I am in the process of painting some favorites.

Inspired Art

April 11, 2011
Hello all! I am excited to post about my recent piece for Inspired Art, an event created by America SCORES NY. This group is involved with the creative expression in NYC public schools though an art exhibit in April 27th! The event will exhibit my and other artists’ pieces inspired

by NYC elementary student poems! You can learn details and buy tickets here:

America Scores is a non-profit that empowers students in urban communities using soccer, writing, creative expression and community service.  This year’s event has brought in visual artists and asked them to choose a poem which inspires them based on the collection of poems written by the children in the program, and then all the artists would create a piece of art inspired by the words.

“The Exquisite Corpse”

April 6, 2011

The “Exquisite Corpse” show was a group exhibition featuring collaborative drawings initiated and overseen by The Savannah College of Art and Design Painting Department visiting artist Michael Scoggins. The reception was held at Mr. Beast Gallery the weekend of Thursday, February 24th 7-10pm and it was very successful! We were able to raise close to 2,000$ for the West Broad YMCA.

The Exquisite Corpse drawings are a mix of colorful humor and a particularly captivating peculiarity; a trifold drawing that 3 different artists work on individually and not seeing what the artist before had drawn. It is traditionally oriented in three sections as ‘head’, ‘torso’ and ‘legs’ So you end up with some rather interesting compositions once completed and the buyer of these pieces get three artists for the price of one! The exquisite corpse has been around a long time but the surrealist painters made it especially popular during their time. The collaborative nature of this project fostered an extraordinary sense of community among its participants and the result was a body of close to 500 humorous drawings.

We priced each drawing at $20 to make them affordable for everyone, to bring the entire community together and to raise as much funding as possible. The show brought many different members of our community together and was a great experience for all and was a great event!!
