Hudson’s Visit is COMPLETE!

November 26, 2010

I have completed my first children’s book: Hudson’s Visit and has already made some sales.

I have had fun and learned a lot with this all watercolor illustrated story book. Children’s book is a field I plan to enter into in the future, my next step being a new book!

Here is ¬†look at my book on blurb.com, the website I used to have my book printed. On this site Hudson’s Visit is available for purchase in both soft cover and hardcover. ENJOY!

Alter Ego

November 26, 2010

I have always been fascinated with Giraffes and have used the animal as subjects for many of my art pieces over the years. This piece was an alter-ego illustration in watercolor projecting my connections to “The Giraffe”.

Savannah Watercolors

Drayton St. - Savannah Georgia

Spot Illustration - Forsyth Park Savannah GA

Above are two illustrations in watercolor I made of Savannah, Georgia. The first if of a courtyard on Drayton Street by Forsyth Park. I find some parts of the day, the “Golden Hour”, to be romantic and enchanting in Savannah. The spot illustration that goes with the first one is a more night-time version of the first, keeping to dark but warm colors.

One goal with these pieces was to keep to brighter and bolder color layering verses the instinct to mix the color on the palette (like oil painting).

Original Calendar both 2010 and 2011

November 26, 2010

Last holiday season I was encouraged to make one illustration a day to become a stronger illustrator by a professor. With my intense schedule of both work and school I decided to turn that encouragement into my own version of practice. I chose to illustrate a calendar to give as holiday gifts. Unexpectedly, these twelve pages of illustrations ended up selling well in both New York and Savannah.

In September of this year, one woman who bought a few calendars last year asked for for a large amount of calendars for this holiday season. With this I decided to keep to the same style but change the shape from a rectangle to a square to change it up a bit.

Send me an email if you are interested in a calendar for either you or a friend or family member!

Children’s Book

November 26, 2010

Here are some pages from the Children’s book I am working on.

The story is about a young boy who visits the Coney Island Aquarium with his mother. I really want the book to focus on the fascinating animals that the young boy will meet on his trip.

p4 - Seahorses

Some Illustrations from the Travel Journal

Bellow are some illustrations from the Travel Journal I am working on completing after my trip abroad as well as some photographs that were inspirations. All of the illustrations have been done with pen and ink and colored with watercolors.

Euro Trip

November 26, 2010

In April and May of 2010 my self and two fellow artist, whom of which I had been friends with for years, had taken off on a trip around Europe. We were interested in seeing some of the greatest museums, hidden gems throughout all the cities, architecture and making some great friends.

Eager to take this trip to London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Venice and Barcelona but not wanting to fall behind in my classes I proposed an independent study to one of my professors. After an approval from both him and the dean of illustration I was on the next plane to London, England with plans to write and illustrate a travel journal of the parks and gardens we were to visit on our trip.

The reason I chose the subject I did was because knowing my girlfriends and I were going to have picnics. We love to dine economically and on the go – giving us the chance to see the sights and people watch.

Here is the cover to my journal, which I plan to bind and have printed.
