Modern Bunch

March 9, 2011

This illustration began as an ode to “The Brady Bunch”; however, through multiple sketches and color comps it transformed into a more modern version. The piece is a tribute to all unique and loving brothers and sisters; one wouldn’t be the same without the other .

Puppy Power!

February 28, 2011

For the front page of my portfolio I painted my good friend’s puppy, Betty! I was happy with the way the typography came out for this one and I plan to use this font in future work. Enjoy!

Letter Playground!

February 28, 2011

Recently I posted two letters to the collaborative website http://www.letterplayground.com where artists and illustrators create thousands of fun ways to represent letters. I illustrated a “C” with a centipede and a “F” using a fruit bat. This was a fun exercise and a chance to be apart of an illustrative collective. More to come!

Check out my collection so far on the link bellow.

City Kicks

February 21, 2011

I have been working on a new oil painting based on a city scene in an alley way. I road block when the painting seemed as though it was missing something so I sketched up some ideas for things to add in the composition to make it feel more urban. Here is one that didn’t work for the painting but thought it made a fun illustration.

Hot Summer City

February 16, 2011

This piece is inspired by those tropical city days where the fans and cool drinks don’t even break the sweat (as hard as they are to remember now in the cold February weather). This was one of my first real attempts at a real limited palette and I loved the outcome. More limited palettes to come!

January 31, 2011

Bellow are two facing pages in my portfolio. Both are illustrations inspired by my travels: Amsterdam, Barcelona and Venice.

Children’s Book Character?

January 26, 2011

I painted a sea turtle pretty similar to this for my first book, “Hudson’s Visit” however he was very realistic. I have been working on translating my painted animals and people into “characters”. What do you think?
